Today we mowed the lawn in our English garden. The smell of cut grass reminded me of growing up in England. On warm weekends, all our neighbours were in their gardens, mowing their lawns.
I wanted a grass lawn as the centrepiece of my English garden because it is something that I miss in Japan. I grew up running around doing handstands and cartwheels on the lawn of my back garden. I hope some of the children who come to learn English at Emma's English will be able to enjoy the same experience.
